In the art studio there is no place for judgements. We want to experiment, to gain knowledge, to build an analytic vision and to reinforce our self-esteem. The students are encouraged and guided towards improving their creativity and skills.
The difference between to see and to look
Art is a deep process: it is like travelling between worlds – the “Real World”, the “Subconscious World”, the “Fantasy World”, the “Conceptual World”, etc. We have so many “places” where we can go, explore and absorb from, that sometimes we may lose something very important in all this intense process… the way we see things. And what is that: the way we see things?
«The way we see things is affected by what we know or what we believe. » John Berger
Drawing the Color
The aim of the present workshop is to explore the specific expressivity and materiality of color pencils, usually considered to be “less noble” materials in the realm of visual arts. Its use throughout childhood, however, underlines the strong instinctive particularity of this medium, and that is what we will search for, in a most personal experimentation.
